ALT+TAB
In Vista: Windows+TAB
You have multiple windows open. How do you switch?
- Hold down the ALT key
- Tap the TAB key. (The key may just have the symbols <— and —>)
Is the window you want highlighted? Don’t release the ALT key until it is!
Tap TAB again until the window you want is highlighted.
If you get to the end of the list, tap TAB again! You’re back to the first window.
- When the window you want is highlighted, release ALT.
Note: Windows are listed in the order you used them, most recent to least recent.
This is a big help. Let’s say you have five windows open. You were typing in the word processor, then you opened your Internet browser to copy something. When you ALT+TAB, the word processor comes up first.
In Windows Vista, this works the same. For more fun, replace the ALT key with the Windows key (wavy window symbol, left of space bar). Hold that key down and press TAB. Same idea, but you see all the windows in a 3-d format. Cool.
